We answer some version of these questions every week, either on the phone or standing at the counter in Apple Valley. Before You Book
What's the minimum age to ride?
There's no single number we can give you, because it depends on the bike and the kid. Our smaller machines, including the electric Rawr Mantis Mini, fit younger riders than a 2023 KTM 300SX ever will. Call ahead with your rider's age and height and we'll tell you honestly which bike, if any, fits them. Every rider under 18 needs a waiver signed by a parent or guardian, no exceptions.
Do I need a motorcycle license?
No. Every dirtbike in our fleet, gas or electric, is classified as an off-highway vehicle, not a street-legal motorcycle, so a motorcycle license or endorsement is not required to ride one. You do need a valid government-issued ID to sign the rental waiver before you roll out.
Can beginners rent a dirt bike?
Yes, and we see first-time riders every week, not just as the exception. We walk first-timers through clutch, brakes, and body position in the parking lot before they ever see a trail. See our beginner rental page for how we set riders up, including which bikes we steer new riders toward.
Can I rent for a few hours instead of a full day?
Yes. Hourly blocks make sense if you're arriving in the afternoon or only want a taste of trails like Sand Hollow before dinner. A full day makes more sense if you're driving in from St. George or Zion and want to make the trip worth it. Pricing depends on the bike and the length of the rental, so check current pricing for both options.
Deposit, Gear, and Getting There
How does the deposit work?
We put a hold on your card at checkout. It's not a charge, and it comes off automatically once the dirtbike comes back in the condition it left in. If there's damage, we document it and charge for the actual repair, not a flat penalty for a small scuff. The hold amount depends on which bike you're riding, so check current pricing for specifics.
Is gear included?
A helmet comes with every rental. Boots, gloves, goggles, and body armor are available to rent separately if you don't have your own, which most local riders already do. If you're flying in or borrowing a bike from a friend without the gear, tell us when you book and we'll have a full set ready.
Do I need my own truck or trailer?
No. If you don't have a way to haul a bike, we rent a dirt bike trailer as an add-on, and we've written a separate post on the delivery and tow options if you'd rather skip the trailer entirely. Plenty of our customers show up in a sedan and leave with a bike anyway.
On the Trail and After
What happens if the bike breaks down on the trail?
It's rare, because every bike gets inspected before it leaves our lot, but it happens. If you're riding within range of Sand Hollow, Gooseberry Mesa, Warner Valley, or the other spots we send people to, call the number on your rental agreement and we'll come to you. We'd rather drive out and swap a bike than have you push it two miles back to the trailer.
What's your cancellation policy?
You can change or cancel a reservation up to a cutoff before your ride window, and that cutoff gets tighter close to a busy weekend, because we've likely turned away other riders to hold your bike. Call us directly for a change. We'd rather move your date over the phone than make you cancel and rebook from scratch.
Do you rent electric dirtbikes too?
Yes. Alongside our gas fleet, we run a 2026 Sur-Ron Light Bee X and a Rawr Mantis Mini. Both are dirtbikes in the sense that matters on trail, not toys, but they ride differently enough from a gas bike that it's worth asking us which fits your plan for the day before you book.
